What fits

These layouts use the designer’s own case outline and gear models, drawn to scale. The dashed line is the wall clearance: the designer keeps every item inside it.

A profile in the library is not proof that a combination fits; the designer checks placement as you go.

One narrow layer

The 1170 takes a single insert. At 155 mm across, the width is what limits you: a G19 lying flat takes about 133 mm of it, so magazines can’t stack above or below the pistol. They stand at each end, and a speedloader fits in the space under the barrel.

Use Planning view to check spacing as you rotate items. An optic on the slide adds height, so a MOS pistol with a red dot gets tight against the walls.

Printing it

The insert is 270 mm long, which is wider than a 256 mm Bambu Lab plate and wider than a Prusa Core One at any angle. It fits in one piece only on a larger printer such as the Creality K2 Plus. Everywhere else, split it once across the short side, away from the pistol’s trigger guard and the magazine pockets.

The factory foam

If your 1170 came with pick-and-pluck foam, expect it to wear. One 1170 owner reported the original foam lasted less than a year, and still tore and shed particles after being coated. Pelican sells replacement foam and a custom-cut service; a printed insert is the option you can redesign and print again when your gear changes.

Check your model before you print

This profile is the Pelican 1170 only, not the wider Pelican range. The 1150, 1200 and 1400 have different interiors. Third-party copies of popular Pelican cases exist and their interiors can differ; check yours against the dimensions above. One exception we have tested: the MEIJIA MJ1170 shares this interior and takes the same insert.

The dimensions describe the digital insert, not a measured fit tolerance. We haven’t published fit tests yet, so print a small section first. How the designer computes fit.
